Establishment of Apragaz
The BREXIT decision triggered the start of the activity of APRAGAZ Ltd.
As no agreement could be found between the UK and the European Commission concerning the mutual recognition between the Notified Body (EU) and the Approved Body (UK), APRAGAZ Asbl (Belgium) quickly made the choice to undertake the necessary steps to become an Approved Body for several UK regulations.
Therefore, as of 2021, APRAGAZ Ltd. was established and was able to start the accreditation process in view of obtaining the necessary designations from the various competent authorities.
APRAGAZ Ltd. has already been pre-assessed by UKAS in 2022.
Since June 2022, APRAGAZ Ltd. was provisionally appointed by MCGA (Maritime & Coastguard Agency) for the certification of all kind of extinguishers falling under the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations
Since November 2022, APRAGAZ Ltd. was provisionally appointed by the VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) for the certification of TPER cylinders or accessories falling under the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009.
Since May 2023 APRAGAZ Ltd. obtained accreditation by UKAS for the MSR, and since December 2023 for the TPER, PER and SPVSR.
Since October 2024, APRAGAZ Ltd renounced to the UKAS accreditations for the regulations PER and SPVSR. Indeed, since the announcement by the UK authorities of the “indefinite extension” of the recognition of the CE marking for the regulations PER and SPVSR we haven’t received any demand from our customers. The date of 31 December 2024 is no longer a deadline for authorising products with CE marking to be placed on the UK market.
APRAGAZ Ltd. will of course keep the same values that have driven APRAGAZ Asbl since 1929 and that is why you can rely on APRAGAZ Ltd. to ensure the safety of your equipment.
